Why I wanted it

I absolutely love good steak, and for as long as I remember I knew that wagyu was the best of the best in the world of steak, and that it originated from Kobe, Japan. So whenever it came up in conversation I always said that "one day" I will go to Japan and eat the real thing. I was very excited for this.

I was so excited for this but utterly unprepared — Kobe was just a stop along my hitchhike trip through Japan, and I hadn't done any research on where to go. My first morning there, I woke up in my little hotel room and asked ChatGPT for the best places to eat wagyu in Kobe. It gave me a few suggestions, but the top recommendation was Misono — the birthplace of teppanyaki.

I wasn't expecting it to be such a fancy restaurant, nor to end up with the multi-course option that also included lobster and a course of vegetables (a tiny portion). Either way, I was completely full by the time I finished. It was one of the best meals I've ever had, and definitely the best steak I've eaten in my life. Would 100% recommend this to anyone visiting Japan!
