Radicals and components
514 pieces and 201 radicals, straight from the Chinese national standards, with a name, a meaning where one exists, and a lesson order that teaches the most useful pieces first. Every character in the app can be taken apart into its pieces, so a word profile always shows you what it is built from.
Idioms and sayings
5,187 idioms, proverbs and two-part sayings, each with a literal reading, its meaning, the story behind it where there is one, and an example sentence. Pin the ones you like to the top and they join your plan. There is a hand-the-phone-over game, 考考我, where a Chinese friend tests you.
Poems
127 poems that Chinese schoolchildren learn by heart, from the folk songs of the Book of Songs to the last classical age. Every poem has pinyin, a plain English line beside each Chinese line, a note on why it matters and a note on the poet. Every English line was written for this app.
Provinces
All 34 provinces, regions, municipalities and special administrative regions of China, with the character from the number plate, the capital, the population and who lives there. A province that is also a word in the course is one card, so Beijing the place and 北京 the word are the same page.
Slang and texting
The words people actually type: internet slang, texting shortcuts and everyday speech, with the register explained. There is a crude tier that is hidden unless you switch it on.
